Protect ICD

Project title: Programmed Ventricular Stimulation to Risk Stratify for Early Cardioverter-Defibrillator (ICD) Implantation to Prevent Tachyarrhythmias Following Acute Myocardial Infarction.

Project data

Project description:

A multicentre, randomised, controlled trial which aims to prevent sudden cardiac death in patients with poor cardiac function after myocardial infarction (MI). The main objective of the study is to evaluate the role of electrophysiological testing (EPS) in guiding implantable cardioverter defibrillator (ICD) implantation in patients in the early period after MI (first 40 days). A secondary objective is to assess the usefulness of cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR) in analysing cardiac function and viability and predicting inducible and spontaneous ventricular tachyarrhythmia when this examination is performed in the early post-MI period.
