Scientific and clinical facilities

The Clinical Trials Support Unit (CWBK) is a unit of the Medical University of Łódź – one of the largest medical universities in Poland with extensive clinical facilities. Being a part of the to the academic structures provides an opportunity to benefit from the scientific and research potential of the University.

Medical University of Lodz is one of the leading research centres in Poland. Each academic year it carries out more than 100 different scientific projects and numerous researches. The University is a leader in research fields such as: immunology, molecular biology, genetics, oncology or endocrinology and its key strategic areas of scientific development are civilisation diseases: cancer, metabolic diseases, cardiovascular diseases, respiratory diseases, as well as innovations for healthy living and active ageing.

In addition, the University conducts research in various fields related to clinical medicine and medical biotechnology, mainly in solutions for the development of new drugs, active substances, therapies for chronic diseases, recommendations for the use of telemetry solutions in the prevention and treatment of patients.

The main potential lies within the people who, by their work and commitment, pursue the scientific and research mission of the University. The University’s Scientific Council currently comprises nearly 30 outstanding scientists who set the direction of research and development activities. An additional  asset is represented by the potential of young scientists, whose initiatives are supported internally by providing them access to the most successful research teams, guaranteeing funds for publications, grants and ensuring protection and promotion of intellectual property. We can proudly inform that among the young scientific leaders there are winners of diamond grants, the student Nobel Prize, Innovation Brokers, winners of prestigious plebiscites and competitions. Last but not least, the high scientific position of the Medical University of Łódź is also earned by the students who show high scientific activity within the Student Scientific Society.

Teaching Hospitals of the Medical University of Lodz

We can access a wide range of medical services, operating in consortium with three Teaching Hospitals of the Medical University of Lodz (listed below). Together, these facilities have over 1,800 hospital beds, employ more than 3,000 doctors and the number of patients treated there annually is close to 115,000.

Within their scope, we have access to a full range of medical services provided in more than 80 clinics. In total, they have 1800 hospital beds, employ over 3150 doctors and the approximate number of patients treated there annually is close to 11400.

In addition, we are constantly developing a network of partnerships with the primary care facilities (POZ), which provides an additional source of a wide range of patients.
