Initially,  the unit responsible to supporting clinical trials was the Clinical Trials Section (SBK), a subsection of the Innovation and Technology Transfer Centre (CIITT) of the Medical University of Łódź. In 2019 SBK was restructured into a separate entity, called Clinical Trials Centre (CBK). Two years later, the CBK was expanded into the highly specialized Clinical Trials Support Centre (CWBK), providing complex support in realization of commercial and noncommercial clinical trials. The aim of the project financed by the Medical Research Agency (ABM) was providing centralized architecture through the expansion of the unit from CBK into CWBK, the launch of the Early Phases Research Unit, providing effective systemic solutions and the human resources advancement modeled after the Medical Research Agency’s standards. The approximately 2.4 million euro projects realization begun in 2021, and ended with an official opening of the new facility on 29 of march 2022. The next expansion took place in march of 2025.
