The main objective of the competition was to support projects for the development of new diagnostic and therapeutic procedures in various areas of medicine with a focus on oncological diseases, childhood diseases (including the infant, neonatal and prenatal period), old-age diseases, infectious diseases and their complications, e.g. in the form of postcovid syndrome, and diseases with an immunological basis. The MAGIC-AML project, is a proposal for the comprehensive, state-of-the-art and personalised treatment of acute myeloid leukaemia (AML, acute myeloid leukemia), which is one of the most aggressive haematopoietic malignancies and accounts for approximately 80% of all acute leukaemias in adults.
The project will be carried out in a consortium with the M. Kopernik Regional Multispecialist Oncology and Traumatology Centre in Łódź and the Association of the Polish Adult Leukaemia Group (PALG). The project’s clinical trial will be conducted in 13 centres in Poland, where it is planned to provide care to approximately 150-200 patients per year, in order to reach the target number of 520 patients within the 42-month recruitment period.
